Depends on the sort of tetra. Species names and/or pics if you're not sure would help. And I apologize, because I know nothing about tetras, but hopefully these would help to increase your chances of getting answers!
Are these kept singly or in schools? If singly, as your post seems to indicate (I may just be misreading), they will not interbreed. If not, I will get you some articles soon if no one else beats me to it.
Well most tetras are said to be hard to breed. If your new to breeding you may want to start with something a bit easyer and work your way up.
Tetras are all schooling fish so if you only have a few of each fish they will be unhappy and stressed constantly.
That being said I am striving to breed my Neons, they are my favoret fish. I had them laying eggs and in the proces accidentaly had my Black Neon Tetras spawn and fry survive (in the comunity tank none the less! Wich is veryvery odd and NOT recomended...I think all but one of they fry got eaten by the tankmates...not very sucsesfull....)
