Has anyone had any experience or read anything about breeding tetras?
neons maybe? (but any type is ok)
i recall that they need low pH, and it helps to have this achieved by conditoning the water w/ peat moss, a spawning mop (they are egglayers) or plants like java fern, but i can remember the specifics?

Breeding tetras

Many many years ago my tetras just bred BECAUSE. I think it was due to having the municipal water coming from a gypsum/limestone aquifer.

It's not really worth it, and tetras are considered moderately hard to breed. Mostly you need to provide them with soft water, and lots of java moss for eggs/baby neons to hide in, because parents will immediately eat young.

Nobody does it domestically because they're imported on the cheap, but I've also had a few occasional cases of all the sudden I've got a baby glowlight that somehow reached maturity.
