i have a set of silvertip tetras....i wanna breed them... what should i do to encourage good breeding how shoukd i set ny tanbk.. like wat steps should i take?

As a rule of thumb on breeding Tetras, it’s very hard. I can get mine to breed but it tacks a lot of work.

I keep them in a planted tank till I’m ready for egg laying. DKH 5 DGH 7 Temp 78* Then there moved to a 20 long bare bottom tank with a piece fish net type stuff (holes slightly larger) about 1 inch off the bottom. Then I water change 50% at 70*. Watch fish closely for fish to lay eggs. After fish lay eggs male will swim around the eggs. Then normally all the fish will start eating eggs.

Fish will need to eat very healthy and feed lots of different foods.
Would try with groups of 5 or more.
Some times you can get them to breed up to 3 times a month.
The eggs will fester with fungus quickly. I use small doses of Anti-Fungus and lots of water changes.

im basically a newb... what? what do u mean ur gonan be ready for egg laying can it jus happen ina bare tankj w/a amle and a female

Sometimes they will just lay eggs sometimes they will not lay eggs. I use 5 fish when I try to get them to lay eggs. This gives me a better chance of one of them laying eggs and having a male in the group. Do you know witch ones are males? Most of the time you can get them to lay eggs by dropping the water temp quickly, that’s why I do a water change.

There is not much of a sure way to get them to breed you just need to start trying. I have been breeding 8 types of Tetras for 3 years and sometimes it works and sometimes it dose not.

they are pretty kewl fish.. and i love the fishy babies... its an interest of mine.. .any help here would be greatly appreciated
