Bree's Discus Tank Build Thread

Here's a video from today's morning feeding!

They don't normally hide behind the filter like they are at the beginning/end of this video.. I guess they are just a little camera shy? Haha, nevertheless, the smell of frozen bloodworms got them to come right out!

Enjoy!

Oh, and sorry about the glare on the glass! It's my computer screen in the background.

Wow they've really colored up & look even more fantastic in just a week! Cute how the blue guy you said is kinda shy is doing the coy act for the camera.

Thanks for the compliments! I'm super happy about how they've colored up and gotten more confident. It's funny, the blue diamond is starting to actually boss the others around now! Weird how their pecking order goes... They've all got such funny and different personalities.

they look great, you're doing an excellent job so far!

Thank you! I'm trying my best to give them the best. I'm glad you guys will get to watch them grow.

Awww, terrific video Bree, they look fantastic! Makes me want more young ones!!

Thanks!

I just received my package from angelsplus and I'd say my discus are even more enthusiastic about those flakes than they are about the FBW!!!

The Garlic Flakes are a huge hit. And the Vitamin Flakes are getting devoured too! I've yet to try the fry starter pellets, the deworming flake and the earthworm flake, but I have no doubt they will be popular too. Makes feeding much easier with a good flake food! Now they'll get two frozen meals and two flake/pellet meals a day.

Major update!

3 more discus on the way!!
This (final) shipment will include:

  1. one 4" blue cobalt
  2. one 3.5" blue scorpion
  3. one 4" super flamingo
I'm super excited for these strains! I've been looking for the perfect blues for a long time. The super flamingo is stunning too. Those last three for the group will arrive sometime next week- still setting up a ship date.

After this I'll have to stay away from Kenny's sale threads before I buy myself out of money or tank space- whatever comes first! Haha :)

I will be sure to post pictures upon their arrival. Super excited!

Oh, and I forgot to mention. Before you guys freak out about tank size, I'm upgrading to either a 90 or 100 gallon.

You are officially addicted!!!!!!!!!!! Help :help2:is on the way!!! :woot::woot::woot:

Bree I have two blue cobalts......in my opinion, there is no blue fish that compares to the dark blue cobalts!! My lights just came on in their tank. I'll see if I can shoot a quick pic of them!

Hmm... Deb now you've got me wondering if I want to get 2 cobalts and leave out the scorp.. hmm...

But yes, addicted seems like an accurate word for this :)

My final order is:

  • one 4" super flamingo
  • one 4" cobalt
  • one 3"+ golden diamond

So that will bring me to 9 discus. I believe I am having a 95 gallon custom made for this group, I'll keep you guys updated on the progress of both the new fish, old fish, and new tank! ;)

As you said, Debbie... it's more of an addiction than a hobby!
