Brentling's 125 Startup Thread - Lots o' Pics

I can take a picture tonight and post it if this doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Great tank design, by the way.

I'd like to see that, please.

I would love to see your hanging setup, for sure. I just got my new filter today to replace the broken one and intend to set everything up this weekend.

Ok, I'll take some pictures tonight (I'm at work now). Just didn't want to hijack your thread.

It definitely still looks like a prototype - I expect a far more elegant implementation from anyone on this board.

My filter arrived unbroken. Gonna set it up today! I'll have to actually plant some plants, too. Yikes! I've got a little 10 gallon work tank that is completely full of Rotala, Ludwigia and valisneria that I have been growing out for the purpose. I am excited! I'll take some before and after pics for posterity.

Here's the hanging light frame. I consider it a prototype - in a clean build or new setup I'd use nicer wire to hang it (rather than the cheapo chain) and make sure it was centered over the tanks.

The main reason for the construction was that the little legs that fit the light (a Coral Life 2x96w PC) aren't high enough for me to open the lid all the way for cleaning and such.

It's currently over a 45G tall and a 29 gal in an L shape under my stairs.

The first picture is from the original setup (about a year ago).

The second one is from the side.

The third one is with the light removed so you can see the "rails" that it's hanging from.

I put a strip of wood along the front and back to "space" the light away from the threaded eye bolts. The stock was 1/2" aluminum 'L' from Lowes. It cuts fairly easily with a hacksaw, and then I drilled the holes.

The smaller section is a small section of light diffuser with three LED moonlights sitting on top, for nighttime.

Hope this helps - steal any ideas you'd like, as long as you show us the results.

edit: It's actually 1" aluminum - I wanted a nice wide base for the light.

The tank is set up with water and plants in it! I took pics and will post soon. i learned some things and several people had suggestions that were correct. One I ignored to my peril. I will write a big post tomorrow.

Ohh Goody! (I can hardly contain myself.)
/ Seriously. Very much looking forward to seeing the progress.

I was beginning to fear that I had killed the thread.

Now I just have to convince the wife to let me get the 75G I've been eyeing...
