Hi Friends,

My Brichardis (Started with a group of 12, 2" fishes) have grown well and are healthy. I also find that multiple pairs have formed and have selected their breeding nests also.

I have noticed about 4 to 5 spawns (eggs in the nests) but not one of them have hatched. Last time a pair spawned, the eggs were green in color and after 2 or 3 days, they turned white and disappeared. I read that eggs turning white are a sign of Fungus / infertile eggs. Today once again, I've seen 2 batches of eggs (of different pairs) and they all are pure white and disappearing fast. I also see that these guys are not defending their eggs / nests from other fish (other brichardis and frontosas).

I really dont understand what could be wrong here and why they arent breeding. I'd love to see a few babies being cared-for by their families (for which the brichardis are so popular)

Kindly guide me regarding this...
Thanks and Regards
Kush

im not sure but, if the eggs get fungus the parents take the eggs away so it wont spread to the other eggs.

Some times it will take up to a year before they get it right so to say if your water is fine than give it time.. hehehe rhymes..

Ladies and gentlemen, now each of you can be witness of another attribute of this multi talented man: poet. :)
But, checking again the quote, it's correct what he wrote. Aye, it also rhymes!

I would agree on the time issue. Relax, Nagakush, here's a tissue. If your water is clean indeed, your fish will breed.
Seriously though, it took nearly a year before I got a successful spawn from my Brichardi. After they figure it out you will spend the rest of your days figuring out what to do with all the fry.

I'd move out all but a single pair. If you do have multiple spawning pairs you'll soon be looking for a way to stop them from spawning...
