Bright green algae?!!

I just noticed on an old apple snail shell in my tank (I've only just had the shell as a decoration there never was a snail in it when I had it) there is a bright, almost neon green algae. could anyone tell me what that could be. There is regular algae and then this is growing over top of it in some spots. I was alarmed to see this, hoping someone knew what it was.

I am quite sure that this is simply green algae. This stuff grows in my mono/puffer tank where it gets the most light.

Olaf, did your monos eat it? My monos enjoy picking off and eating green algae. I joke about hem being brackish water algae eating fish .

It was hard to tell who ate the algae.
I think it was either my scats or my chromides.
I have even seen my puffers eating algae.
The puffers big thing now is biting this one section of a coral head.

that would make sense because that side of the tank gets the most light, but I've never seen green algae like that in all my years.
