Brilliant Rasbora Information

kjr928

Go fish yourself.
My brother has a 55g tank that has just finished cycling. He has 3 brilliant rasbora and 4 juvie angels (nickel sized) and 4 cories.

He bought the rasbora without doing any research on them what-so-ever. I'm having trouble finding information on them (not that it's MY job, but I'm trying to help). One site says they get 2.5 inches, one says they get 4-5 inches, etc. It doesn't say how many should be in a school.

Can someone please tell me your experience with these fish so I can pass it along to my brother.

These are the other fish he wants to add to the tank: 1 rainbow shark, 1 dwarf gourami, and a school of gold tetra. Opinions on this are also welcome.

Can this set up work?

It seems there's more than one species that goes by common name of brilliant rasbora. If you know it's latin name, just google it and you should get the information you need.

Turns out the fish is actually a Rasbora Borapetensis. It says they only get about 2 inches long, so it's not as bad as I thought.

Would still like opinions on the stocking:
55g

4 angels,
3 Rasbora Borapetensis
4 Juliee cories <--- can't spell that one
And potentially:
1 rainbow shark
1 dwarf gourami
School of gold tetra (8-10?)

I wouldn't get the Gourami, either. They are pretty, and have lots of personality, but they usually come with "Gourami disease" and don't last long. Mine just died last night. They are hyper-bred and not in the best conditions.

Haven't heard of them or "gold tetras", could they be gold barbs?

Especially the neon/cobalt blues and flames.

There is a gold tetra, Hemigrammus rodwayi.

I'd increase the schools of rasboras and corydoras.

my biggest brilliant rasbora is about 3.5 inches long, but he was old when I got him
