I do have a FX5 and heavily planted / heavily stocked (that's just the way I do it) . Only thing is that the botom of the tank is like all grass 
There are some sandy areas to the sides by the rocks. I imagine they would be ok and just figure out their new territory. I also have a 72 at work that has more sand on the bottom, might put some in there also.
