I have been looking at an algae cleaner for my tank and the bristlenose caught my eye. Many people seem to reccomend it, i have a 55 central americn cichlid tank. Anyone have any advice on a good place to order one from or advice on them in general??

Pleco's are not great and mighty algae destroying machines. Might try one of those little magnet glass cleaners first...

I have one, i would like a fish that would do it for me, i can get them for like 12 bucks which seems pretty cheap, but i'll definately look into alternatives to plecos

As long as your cichlids don't get big enough to eat him, it should be fine. I really like my bristlenose. Alot of stores can order a fish for you if you ask them, especially the smaller local shops. I would try that

ya, i have a bunch of convicts and 3 blue acaras, but i'm about to sell the convicts. Then add something more passive, to go with the blue acaras...maybe a few firemouths

If nothing else, I would recommend a bristlenose just because they are very nice fish. They might snack on algae every so often, but don't look to one pleco to be the answer. I would first try to find out why you have algae...

I agree with what everyone is saying...and also will add to give them a place to hide. Mine burnt her back on the heater trying to hide behind it. Dummy me had no clue. Now she has 2 caves...

its not like the tank has loads of algae, i would just like to have a bottom feeder who looks sweet. I'm not really looking for a one stop solution to algae problems.
