I found a bristleworm on a piece of live rock at the pet store, after some careful looking, and didn't know whether I should take it home or not. I didn't know if it would be beneficial to my tank. It's about 2.5 inches stretched out. Would it be beneficial to go back to the pet store and pick it up? Or are they a pest hitchhiker?

Bristleworms are good, they eat detriment. If you get liverock with bristleworms on it, they will act as a cleaning crew on their own. Buy it if you like it.

Hmm I actually saw a picture of it... but I'm not sure if it was a bristleworm. It had all these little spikes on it, and it was hanging off the rock about 2". After watching it for a minute or two, it retracted back into the live rock. I wouldn't have noticed it if it hadn't been hanging out of the rock.
