today when I went to go feed my tank, I noticed that my diamond goby had ragged tail fins. This happened overnight, and I dont have any tank mates that would pick or nip fins. I have one skunk cleaner shrimp and a firefish. Thats it. also the goby seems to be very jumpy at night. when no one is even awake, he just jumps randomly. like last night, he tried to jump out of his tank at around 3:00 in the morning! I heard that bristle worms will attack fish at night, and I was wondering if this is true. plz help!!!!!!!!!!

No, bristle worms will not attack a living fish. They have no jaws only a sucker type mouth. Are you sure your seeing bristle worms? Could it be a eunicid? Eunicida have 5 antennas on the top of their head. Try to get a pic if you can.

hmm... Well I definetly see bristleworms because they don't have any antennas on them. So maybe he has fin rot... Oh no! If he does have fin rot, what should I do? I have a reef tank so I can't put that many chemicals in there.. Also I don't have a quarantine because I don't have the money for another tank. Are there any of those organic stuff?

Fin rot is a possibility, but all that night time activity sounds like there is someone else in the tank bothering him. Is there anything else in there other then the shrimp and firefish?

I would suspect a hitchhiker of some kind is trying to attack him at night maybe a crab, mantis or similar in the live rock. The fact that he's jumping around at night makes me think it would have to be something nocturnal.

my male neon blue gobbie never liked bristle worms and i think he attacked them every time he saw one. and the way i could tell is that his face was covered in bristles. i think maybe your gobby doesn't like kritters touching him at night and he freaks out
