Ok, I am pretty pleased with how this turned out..
I bought padding and laid the carpet down. i basically had to lay down on the carpet and push slowly out towards the walls do get the wrinkles out. the only bad thing is that the carpet seems a bit shorter so it doesn't quite tuck as nicely under the molding.
anyway.. i think i spent about 100 bucks and in the end i am glad i used this method. the carpet padding was 40 bucks so it was much easier to just throw it away than try to dry it out.
