broken aquarium... help

just got a sweet deal on a 125 gal tank.

get it home and start looking at it close and the bottom frame is split apart at the corner.

my question is, should i bring it back, or is it possible to fix it?

if i knew how to post a pic i would.

oh yeah, when i bought it, it had a couple parrot fish and it was full of water, no leaks nothing, but i am kinda worried because now it will be in my house.

If you think its going to leak and it was a really good deal you can probably repair with aquarium sealant. If it is not going to leak or get worse in the future then just leave it.

I would suggest that you Take it back however.

125 gallon tank

I just bought a used 125 gal. as well. I got it for a good price and the owner said it was never used and this appeared to be the case as the silicone was in good shape. The build date is 1985 so its 21 years old! It sounds as though yours is an older model as well. This one was made by all-glass. The plastic framing members separated. Simpley buy some Silicone 1 by GE (window&door kind, no mildew additived) and squirt a bunch of it in the seams of the separating trim pieces. Then use a wood clamp if you've got one big enough to span the width of the tank and use slight pressure to bring the seam to a minimum. let dry 2 days or so and open some windows.
After I bought it, I thought to have my head examined for buying such an old aquarium. I just set it up today and all seems ok. Here is a pic of my work in progress..

Also, if you have the older tank like mine, they weren't manufactured with support bars at the top to prevent bowing. I siliconed in 3 pvc rods for this. You may want to do this as well if you don't have any.

Yes, I built the stand out of 2x and painted MDF, just whipped it together but it's built really strong for levelling purposes. I will install the canister filter tomorrow and remove the penguin. I threw in my "big boys" and they are lovin the new setup. The 2 africans are zebra "muts" I bred, they are my tank testers, really hardy fish. There is also a green terror swimming around, he's tough...
