Brown algae on rocks

I noticed in my tank with my peacock and yellow labs, some of the rocks in the tank have a brownish algae growing on them. I do water changes every week, and really try to keep the tank clean, and I can't figure out what is causing the algae growth on the rocks. I can't really move them right now to clean, because I have babies in there hiding. Any suggestions on what to do?
 
Add a bushynose plec and/or back off on the amount of light your tank is getting.
 
How long is the tank established ?

I found my rocks went through a real 'cycle' almost of algae - from pristine, to grimy, to absolutely blackened with algae, to brown and now pretty clear again; no lighting adjustments. It didn't really bother me at any stage but it seemed to be just a process of maturing the tank more than anything else.

mine is going through this right now and the tank has only been set up for 4 months. I don't mind it so much since when I bought the rocks for my tank I got really light colored ones and now I wish i had darker rocks all the same color. Now they are darker (with algae) and the same color lol
 
I also think this is a natural process. Mine all went through that and have cleared up after a few months. I used to just clean them as much as possible, usually siphoning it off the rocks.

The tank has been established for about 13 or 14 years. It has been moved a couple of times, once when we moved into the present home we are in about about 8 years ago, and about 2 weeks ago we moved it to another room as we are redoing part of the house. It doesn't seem like it is getting that much more light where it is now, but maybe a little. Do you think I should have a pleco in there? Would the fish bother him? I have a large angelicus cat and some kind of spotted cat in there with them as well.
 
in my opinion we all go thru this some worse than others a bristelnose pleco will help, yep an extra light source will do it as well from a window, longer lighting hours, excessive feedings, not enough or regular water changes, will all add to the algae issue, good luck..
