Brown algae on rocks?

Watcher- PhosGuard and similar phosphate-adsorbing resins also work on silicates, which are the limiting nutient for diatoms. But it is rather swatting a gnat with a hammer.

Nerite snails seem to go quite a good job on diatoms in my unplanted tanks where they will survive, such as some filter-feding shrimp tanks. I did not know that before I added them. Four are keeping a 33XL spotless, ditto 2 in a 15. Obviously they cannot go in puffer tanks, they are expensive sushi. All my planted tanks have too much light for diatoms to be an issue - my visible algae are always green.
