Brown Algae?

well, i obviously (maybe not so obvoius) know not to get CAEs... i've heard a lot of bad stuff about them because they get so huge and fast and hard to catch..

but yeah, right now i have
10 ghost shrimp -i'm getting rid of half of them because they distract a lot of attention from other stuff in the tank... i got these to replace my cory cat i used to have in here
7 neon tetra -i'm planning on moving these to a larger tank maybe.. i cycled it with these and have just kept them in there..
a few stems of anachris,
java moss,
and amazon sword..

if needed i can always take out the fish and shrimp and put them in another tank, i'm really wanting to experiment making this tank planted, it has about 2.5 wpg..

tell me what you guys think.. i've heard/read lots of good things about ottos so i may go that route with just a few other fish and lots of plants.

Brown algae is caused by a lack of light,your lights might seem bright enough to see, but dosent provide enough light for good plant growth,brown algae is'nt dangerous to your fish,but you should invest in new lights,flouros should be replaced after about 8 months,or when brown algae appears.
 
my flourescent is brand new, and is extremely bright... however it's very very white light, giving my tank 2.6wpg... it's a 13W screw in flourescent...
