They will continue to graze on biofilm and can sometimes be supplemented with veggie sticks or blanched zucchini. They really made fast work of that!

A long time ago I tried a horned nerite in with my mbuna to take care of the algae. He did an awesome job but after a week the mbuna caught him on the sand and flipped him over. They killed him. I felt horrible. No more nerites in that tank.

The nerites in my Tang tank are doing fantastic though. They are amazing algae eaters!
 
Three of them have been going non stop since I put them in. The big guy has been sluggish and I have found him tipped over twice. I hope he's OK.

They took care of these rocks.

Razzo, I have the same problem in my Brichardi tank, do you think they would bother the snails? I had an algae eater in the tank, but the Brichardi kept him pinned behind the filter intake.
 
I actually remember reading some article about diatom feeding off of silica, maybe you should look into that. In either case, nerites and otos will clean it up well.
