Thanks for you help, i understand now, do get these one word answers. So am i ok to keep cleaning the rocks and stuff for it to clear its self up. Is there anything i can do if it doesn't clear itself up, thanks again
You can clean them if you want, but it'll just come back until it's "ready" to go away.

I know how you feel. I have three new tanks running right now with a nice load of diatoms :D I keep cleaning, just because I think I *have* to, but it comes back.

Patience. Took my 75g Boesemani tank over a month for the brown to clear out.

You can buy a diatom filter, but IMO why waste the money when a little "blind eye" will resolve the problem in a few weeks. Up to you.

I dont know what causes brown algae,
but my sister in law was having trouble with gunk in her tank and found out she was feeding them WAY too much and that was adding to the problem.
Fish eat very little. The extra food will rot, and make the water nasty.
Also her tank was getting too much sunlight from a window and she didnt realize it.
Moved tank.
Fed less and now its much cleaner.
