brown hair algae

im running phos remover at the min been going for 2 weeks i have 7 power heads pushing aprox 2000 gals per hour i have 120 gal tank 20 sump fuge i have MH light one 14k one 20k on 8 hours a day i feed frozen once every other day to try to reduce
i use ro/di water
 
im not sure what make they are but 1 pushes 3000 so that would be 5000 sry its a spare pond pump all the working are carbon ie no metal moving parts
my fish are all ok but corals are havein hard time coz they get covered in this crap for the want of a better word i use a turkey baster to get stuff off corals
 
Your tank hasn't got the right circulation. Ideally for corals you 25x turnover and preferably something that will move the water around and not just blast it in a straight line. The koralias are excellent IMO. Have you got a phot of your pumps and set up?
 
do you change your RO unit filters?...they might be due for changing.....i wouldn't use chemicals....there best avoided if possible....just keep cleaning the algae off the rocks and replace your phosphate remover media often then you should beat the algae....it will take a little time but it'll disappear in time......:)
 
the ro/di unit i have is only 3 weeks old i updated it the old 1 was just ro i will ahve to rearange pumps so water is displaced better
 
The pumps you're using may not get a wide dispersed flow Kev. If they are leaving dead spots in the tank you might want to look into a different kind like the Koralias mentioned above..and I agree this isn't hair algae, but most likely cyano and diatoms mixed
