my tank has been up 18 months, I've recently added some corals, a couple of mushrooms and some bubble coral. I've also got new lights; a set of power compacts. During a cleaning of my old protein skimmer three weeks ago I did some damage to it and had to get a replacement. I bought a red sea prizm, because it was what the store had and it said that it was for tanks as big as mine. That's all of the stuff that changed.

Is it possible that this is not enough skimmer for my tank?

I have some scum on the surface of the water, I'm combating it with twice weekly 10 gallon water changes where i use the siphon to suck up some of the scum.

Do you folks think that a new protein skimmer, The CPR bakpak2r is on sale but I don't want to spend the money if I don't need to.

I have a prizm on my 75. It works fine. The trick is to empty the collection cup and clean the neck twice a week. As far as the brown scum, run paper towels or coffee filters over the top of the water. You will have to do that a few times. Keep doing it every day and it will disappear. I am pretty sure it is caused by too much feeding. I also have a ph pointed up to keep the surface agitated plus I use a deflector on 1 of the other powerheads.

Hey fella, nice to see you around these parts again.

Thanks. I wondered if anybody would remember me. I have been so extremely busy I haven't had time to do all the posting I would have liked to. I did, however, change tanks again. I am now doing a 75 reef.
