Brown Spots on my Rock???

I just looked in my tank and there are brown spots on a large rock I have in there. At first there was only a few so I thought it was discoloration due to my newly cycled tank. But now there are more... and yes there are a few live plants in it. So is this algea?How do I get rid of it?

I think it's just some brown algae. Every aquarium gets it ocassionally. I have brown ocassionally forming on rocks and especially the glass. It's quite easy to clean off. Just get an algae scraper, take out the rocks, and just clean them off with the scraper. Once every two weeks or so will be good at cutting down the brown algae.

How often do you change the water? or do you have the light on all the time? I hear that may be the cause of the algea.

Right now the tank isn't even completely cycled so I do water changes almost evry day. There are fish in there. I leave the light on for about 5-6 hours a day, and it is the light that came with the tank

do you have any space for a bottom feeder? A bristlenose pleco will take care of brown algea in no time, and does'nt grow much larger than 5inches

It's only a 10g.... so no. I was planning on getting some pygmy cory cats though. I can't find them anywhere!!! Would they help?

Never read anything about corys eating algea but both my species really love algea wafers. And they occasionally trawl the sides of the tank as if they're eating stuff.
I've got no algea in either tank. they both contain corys,but I've got Bristlenoses in both also. So could'nt say for sure if the corys are eating the algea.
However I have read a lot that pygmys need large shoals.

I actually noticed brown marks on my rocks and plants too the other day.

I have algea eaters, so I was really confused as to what it could be...

Then it hit me:
When I feed the fish flake food, some of the flakes land on the decorations, and go completely unnoticed by the fish.

I cleaned everything off, and changed the spot where I feed and everything remained clean
