At least I think that's what it's called, it's black stays short and is very hard to scrap or pull off of anything.

I didn't think it was a problem till my boyfriend say my 90gal work tank. So he wants me to get rid of it.

Suggestions? I've been trying to scrap it off and I got 5 siamenses but the lil guys can only do so much.

One person at the LFS said to remove everything infected and soak in a bleach/water mix for a day then scrap again. :huh:

Sounds like BBA alright. If you're tank is really badly infected then it would be best to remove the infected decor/gravel and bleach them. No need to leave everything in bleach for a day though. A 1:5 bleach/water dip for a few minutes will totally kill the stuff. Scrub off the dead algae. Make sure everything is rinsed properly and give it a good swish in water with dechlorinator added.

BBA doesn't like being boiled either so that's an alternative if you don't fancy messing around with bleach.

I would also follow up with a large (50%) water change, gravel vacuum and filter clean. If there's BBA on your glass then scrape it off and suck it out while doing the WC.

Do you have any plants in the tank?

I have some plastic plants ~lol~ that I'll be getting rid of some java fern that has been taking over by the BBA, java moss island that is unaffected. Then my Banana plant that looks like it's starting to get infected.

Ugh......... I was afraid of removing it all....... My slate cave will be a pain.

Since you are using some live plants,

Get a bottle of "AlgaeFix" which may not remove it, but treatment & regular doses should help some in the future control.
