BTA

i don't know if stress even induces cloning..? but unless there was some trauma it seems wierd that the nem would mysteriously start to split in 2 for any other reason (then cloning). at 10 inches i'd say it could be ready, i assume it looked great when you bought it? when you got it was there any problems removing it from a rock or anything like that?

Bought a nem about a week and a half a go just looked like yours . Acclimed it for nearly 2 hours was ok for the first week, stayed in the same place id put it , then moved down the side of the rock. And a hole just opened right through it it shrunk from about 8in to 2in and then just dropped to peaces . Cos it was hosted by a clown in the shop could that been a prob for it .

yes it was hosted by 2 clowns at the lfs it seems to be the same at mo no change only time will tell i have just put in fresh batch of active carbon just in case it decides to fall apart i hope it makes it i cant put small clown fish in not that they would host right away .. as i have a snowflake eel in there @ about 15 inches he would prob dine on them
thxs for input guys

When I got my rbta I had to take 3 hours to acclimate it to the difference in SG. Although it is normal for an anemone to deflate to expell waste/toxins it isn't normal for them to stay deflated. I'd definitely get the water tested for Alk and MG, and while you're at the store have them test the SG of the tank the anemone used to be in, I'd not be surprised if it was far less than 1.026

the lfs sanity is about 1.023 unfortunately nem lost the fight all other corals are fine i think maybe there was a bit of chemical war fare going on in tank and thats what done it....just going to get water tested for alk and mg let you know outcome

alk is fine @ 8.3
mg they have no test in shop for that they have sold out
lfs said i could just be one of those things and not to be dishearted by it maybe they are right not sure will try again in the future
thxs guys for all you help

I'd still want the mg tested. It could be the reason why your Alk and Ca are out of balance.

And if their SG is 1.023 and your's is 1.026 I sincerely doubt that 45 minutes was long enough for an acclimation. With an invert I highly recommend testing the SG before deciding that you've acclimated long enough. It can take far longer than the 45 minute used.

ok grins i will get mg tested i will have to shop else where to get it will let you know results
