you won't need to clean it. At least, I've never cleaned my rock But definately test the LFS water

With regard to your parameters they should be as follows:

NitrIte - 0
NitrAte < 10
Ammonia - )
Phosphate - 0
pH - 8.1 - 8.3

Why should Nitrate be at 10?

<10 = less than 10.

Not many people can get them to zero but as long as if they're less than 10 then that's good. Saying that mine are jumping between 25 and 50 due to me adding a big pooper to my tank (Trigger), all my fish are fine, but obviously it's far from ideal!!!!

Oh, and ammonia should have said 0 not )

Thanks, my nitrate is about 0 but im struggling with ammonia.
Im off to get some more rock this weekend. How much do you think i should add in one go without upsetting the balance too much?

1 to 1 1/2 pounds per gallon is ideal!
