so i have recently discovered some type of larva in my 29g tank and they seem to be morphing into some type of gnat. tonight is the first time that i have seen them in my tank. i think they came from some hornwort that i bought from pets mart last week. they keep there plants in aquariums that have opens tops so that's the only place i could think of that they could come from. so i was just wondering if these would hurt my fish and if anyone else has had this problem.
i have 3 baby bristle nose plecos and a Raphael cat fish in the tank if that helps any.

The 'bugs' I have heard of that you are likely to get in an aquarium are harmless, but it would be hard to ID what you have from the description.

I can't remember the name for them, but they feed on live plants, algae, etc. I found mine in a scraping of some slime that had accumulated on the covers of my tank while I was on vacation. I don't know that they harm anything, and I've never actually seen the gnats flying around.
