Hi everyone, I have a question. I was wondering how you guys install your pond filters so that it is not noticeable? I am planning on making a pond in my back yard, and I want it to look seamless, without any extension cords, or some parts of the filter showing.

patience and good planning, cords can go under ground along a fence / wall ran thru the gray pvc tubing and then nestled thru some rock, using a hammer drill and masonary bits.
most cities will let you run outdoor cable without pvc pipe as long as it is 24" under ground

You can dig a little 3 inch wide trench with a really long extension cord, then cover that trench with grass or gravel or whatever your back yard is covered in.

If it is a pressure filter, you are supposed to bury 3/4 of it and just leave the top exposed. You can then build a rock wall around it or place a fake rock on it, just remember that in order to have clean water in the summer, most of us clean the filter once a week so you want easy access to it. I have a pressure filter which I buried and added a gravitational filter which I hid with river bed rocks. You can see the new filter one at:

this would be an electrical code violation if for any reason an inspector saw it and you could get a fine. Also any wiring that is used underground has to be rated for outdoor use. not trying to be nasty but safe

I put my filter in my basement. The pond is right next to the house, so I have 2" PVC that goes through holes in the foundation, and all the equipment is there. The only part visible is a few feet of 3/4" tubing connected to the filter boxes that sit on the bottom. If you really wanted to be invisible you could put in a bottom drain.

Spend the extra money and have an electrician come out and run a line to your pond. Typically the wire or conduit needs to be 18" or deeper to meet code. They will set a post and a GFI grounded outlet with a cover. This will reduce moisture in the electrical lines and will keep the pump and other accessories from shorting out. Hide the post ( it only sticks up about 6-8" above ground) with a boulder or plant or other landscaping.
