building a rectangular loop?

So i'm inspired buy a large cylindrical saltwater shark tank where the fish can swim around in a circle with another much smaller cylander in the middle of equal height, soyou can hide your filter in the middle .I realize that 2 acrylic cylanders would be too expensive if I could even find t so i'm considering building a sort of rectangulr race track, where the fish could swim all the way around the center pavilion ______________________

I'm thinking this may give larger fish a broader sense of freedom.I'm guessing it would be about 30-50 inches wide & 70-90 long.& a 10 inch wide brace on top center locking the 4 top sides together @ center in middle of the length .this would look like2 squares side by side if you looked @ it top down .I'm guessing this may promote excersize.I see salt water sharks swiming around & around tanks that have this track style design. As long as their not always oing the same way this seems inntriguing
ANY comments !

you could just drill the bottom of the tank and get a huge overflow box put into the middle.

OMG what a great idea!!!!! you rock , btw have you any references, were you inspired by something you've seen hopefuly online that maybe you could hook me up with the URL, I'm realy fishing here but you sound knowledgable,it's a fantastic idea,I can almost see it (HERE IT!) now. I'le baffle the splash somehow with sponge or something.heh Thankyou 4 such a cool & timely responce. :)

a store i used to go to had something like that a saltwater that was probably 6x8 and maybe 3 feet tall. it had an overflow in the middle and it was covered with coraline so it wasnt too distracting, i figure if they make that box about 4x4 or so then it would be like what your trying to do. you might want to eurobrace both the tank and overflow for more support too. i see it a lot with the saltwaters like the link you showed. they just cover the middle with tons of rocks and corals. theres a frys electronics with one of those round tanks with sharks in it but they dont have pictures online. i know ive seen some i will try to find the link.

I've seen a tank like that at this cool restraunt that has a ton of fish tanks. It had big saltwater fish, as you said you want to have in yours. I think they just did to acrylic cylinders, though. I know this doesn't help at all but just wanted to share. It'll look so cool if you get it done.

Good Luck!
