building sump, way confused.

the skimmer cannont be moved up at all, the clearance once its under the display tank is about an inch, just enough room to get the cup out.
 
than the baffles need to be cut lower. You can google image of people's skimmer and eyeball how high the water can go. You would think for $100+ item, the darn manufacturer would at least give you TWO sheets of instruction.

For maintenance work, I would want enough clearance under the stand to stick my elbow through. AND to retreive it afterward, that is VERY important. ;-P.

eww thankks for those pics alpha because i too am going to be building a sump\fuge and have lookked at a 110000 forums and pictures and that third one just seemed to make it all make sense now for me. I am going to be using a 30 gal tank...i have never seen a sump set up in real life so it was hard for me to figure this out.

I will post a thread as i begin to make mine which should be in a week or maybe a few
