I didn't want to post this question because it seems so silly, but here goes:

In a compact fluorescent fixture, can I use a 55 watt or lower bulb in a fixture that is currently using a 65 watt bulb? I have a hood but it's set up for saltwater, and I can't find any 65 watt bulbs that aren't 10k, but found plenty of 55 watt bulbs that are freshwater at 6500 or 6700 or something lilke that.

I did find some 65 watt but they were 8700, would that be ok for freshwater?

It should work with lower wattage bulbs just fine....

Think of it like any other light in your house...You can use whatever lightbulb in your fixtures around the house aslong as you dont use over the max that the sticker says on it.

Well, darn. That's ok, you are just as cool:) Geocaching: Finding hidden boxes in woods with signals used from outer space. Or... finding items hidden by others using a GPS . look at geocaching.com.

Thats pretty cool...they have even had a few in my small town of Lynnville
