I have a question regarding Bullnose (or Rubbernose) Plecos. I currently have two in my 75G tank. I read they don't get much bigger than three inches, and currently one of them is about one inch, and the other two inches. They never seem to fight, and maybe it's because they're in such a large tank, that is what I'm not sure of. My actual question is, if I add a third rubbernose (this one is two" in length) does anyone foresee a problem? I remember reading that either Rubbernose, or Bristlenose plecos, were generally very peaceful among each other, possibly due to their small adult size. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe you've got a male and a female right now and thats why they don't fight? I'm not sure though. I would think that as long as you've got lots of hidey holes and driftwood for them to suck on or escape to then there shouldn't be a problem. There might be a little bit of pushing and shoving when you first introduce the new one but eventually (within a day or even a few hours) they shouldn't bother each other, once they've "fought" it out. My BN and Gold Nugget pushed each other around for about an hour when I first introduced the gold nugget and eventually they stopped and now one hides in one hole and the other hides in another hole. They don't bother each other anymore now.

That's kinda what I thought... I thought I read somewhere that BN weren't as territorial as most other plecos. I did introduce a one inch reticulated hillstream loach, and he and the larger BN definitely had a bit of a shoving match. It's amazing that they both wanted the same spot in a 75G tank, but now they leave each other alone.

my rubberlip is a jerk. he bullies all the other plecos in my 150g, including the 6'' royal and almost foot-long common pleco. the rubberlip MIGHT be 3". also, when i had a tank emergency and had to put my black moor goldfish into the tank with the plecos (when it was a 50g), the rubberlip completely shredded the moor's tail overnight - as in 70% of it was gone. he hates other fish and thinks he is about 4 times his actual size. 'bulldog pleco' is a very accurate name for mine.
