The "rule" was one INCH per gallon, which means you would be a lot more overstocked by that "rule" than one FISH per gallon.

Basically the general rule is never follow the general rule when it comes to stocking a tank. It's hardly even a guideline.

My brother had 4 danios in his 10 gallon and they were jerks to each other and other fish, but when we moved them into my 20 they have become much calmer and now they "school"
