Bully needs a tankmate

Tankmate for a Bully?
I have a 3 and a half inch para.oxydon blue lightning streak black damsel that ,as he's gotten bigger just won't tolerate any other tankmates other than a 14inch snowflake eel.
I would like to house him in a 40 with another tankmate.
What would be a good choice?
Heres my list so far.
1.Lion
2.small scorpion-leaf fish

??
Any knowledgable suggestions welcome

Unless you get a Fuzzy Lion or a Dwarf Lion, all other species will be too big for that size tank. Even with the 2 species mentioned, your Damsel will still probably pick on them, because they're small.

A Scorpion will lie, motionless, on the bottom of the tank. Get one too small, and your Damsel will pick on it. Get one too big, and your Damsel will become lunch.

I would go with a small puffer (maybe a Valentini). They're small...and dont take any crap from other fish relative to their size.

If it were my tank, I'd get rid of the Damsel. They make better food (for other fish) than pets.
 
I was thinking a dwarf species of lion about his size.
I don't think that a 40 is too small for a six inch lion.They hang around alot and don't use much tank space.
I'm pretty sure that the poisonous spines of a lion or scorpion will deter him from any aggressive behavior in a hurry.
I am very fond of this fish .He has the personality of 10 fish.He lasted through two catastrophes.Busted heater which electrocuted all of his tankmates and a tank crash when I was in Hawaii for two weeks.
 
No, damsels will still pick on lions. They just learn to avoid the dorsal spines, and shred the rest of their fins. Saw it with a volitan and a 3-stripe.
 
Well all is well after I added a dwarf zebra lion to the bullies tank.He is leaving him alone and is giving him respect,which comes in very short supply with this damsel.
Leonard is cool as are all lion fish.He hangs around undisturbed and is more like an ornament than a fish.lol Feeding time is when his true awesome personality comes out.
