I recently brought home 7 Hyphessobrycon callistus (red serpae tetra) and everything was fine for a day or two untill i noticed they keep nipping each others fins. Iread they were fin nippers but i didn't think it would be this bad... anything I can do? Maybe I'm not feeding them enough or I just got a mean bunch...

If they are going after each others fins they might be trying to establish a pecking order so to speak kinda like tiger barbes do.

I agree. Serpaes are like that. Things should settle down once they get the hierarchy in order.

I sure hope so... Their poor fins look so ragged. Ill keep an eye on them.

Just keep the water pristine to prevent infections. Fins should heal on their own.

My serpae's did the same thing when I got them 3 weeks ago. Now they're all best friends, lol
