What salinity level do these active little fish like? Or do they really care? I keep finding conflicting information, from 1.0, to 1.022! Most just list 'brackish'. 1.016 a good level for long term, or should it be lower?

The reason it is hard to get info is because most brackish species are pretty tolerable to salinity changes because in nature it is constantly changing due to tides and storms.

I think 1.016 is high because you are nearing marine levels. I would go with something between 1.003 and 1.010. It won't hurt to mix it up now and then either.

agreed - I'd generally shoot for 1.008 and not be worried about some drift.

W/ BB gobies, your main concern is getting them to eat. They tend to be quite picky, eating only live foods - you may even have to go to the trouble of using tweezers or something to present the food until it gets comfortable. Some have had success slowly weaning them onto prepared foods, but I more commonly read of BB's not eating & dying.

I've had NO trouble feeding them! I drop in tubifex worms, and I see both of them with a nice long worm stiking out of their mouths after they've gorged themselves. :p They tend to eat about 5-7 of them, then the rest of hte worms die and my crabs eat the rest.

I keep mine at about 1.012, and I have had no trouble getting them to take thawed bloodworms, mysis and krill.

AFAIK are there different species of Bumblebee Gobies that are difficult to tell apart and they prefer different salinities. Hence this confusion. And many Bumblebee Gobies species are sold as a different one.

Well, mine are doing fine. I'm gradually lowering the salinity level, aiming for 1.014.

Regardless of species, BBGs will do okay from freshwater to mid-brack.

Alright, I'm aiming for a more reasonable 1.012 now. :)
