Here are some pictures of my new 30 Gallon tank. This will be a planted tank and I am designing a custom hood to work around the driftwood. :hmm:

I'm not sure if I like the driftwood on the right side of the tank, maybe I will switch it out with some rock work. Oh and the three sticks reaching out on the right sides of the tank were add ons so the one is much lighter. I am not sure if I like it but I will have to wait and see. I still also have to add a background. Let me know what you think and if you have any suggestions for plantings or whatever.

I love the driftwood on the left. It really gets the imagination going, like someplace I'd like to explore. The stick add-ons go well, but you're right, the driftwood on the right doesn't match. I'd take it out. Rocks would be nice, or just leave it as the low open section (the "meadow"). I don't think the light stick is too much of a problem, once it's planted around you probably won't notice the different colour too much.

go open aquarium!!! get a metal halide light and youre good to go, man i wish i could do that
thats a really nice driftwood you got there

open aquarium - no hood

Don't want to get any jumpy fish with that setup. :duh:

:duh: I should have know that!!!

I would love to do metal halide but they are really expensive. I think for now I will be building a custom hood that allows the driftwood to extend out of the tank(think L-shaped). I am thinking about doing something like this for my lighting and having approx. 4-5 watts per gallon, and DIY CO2. I just love working on a budget!!! I have become quiet handy with all the DIY projects I am working on.

Bunny, I agree with the others--that tank is gonna look even better!! That piece of driftwood works really well with the way you arranged it with the extra sticks. Gotta go with kveeti, though, the chunk on the right is an afterthought, doesn't work. The plantings will mature nicely, too. Excellent!!! I give you a 100.

wow, I love that piece of driftwood! :bowing: Where did you get it?
I wish I could find a tall piece like that with my 24" high tank, everything in the stores seem so short! :dive2:

I would leave the driftwood there, take out the other piece on the right and add a couple big rocks, IMHO. :thm:
