I just started noticing my cat fish bleeding on its side. Nothing major, just some red marks. (Striped raphael catfish)

Then i notice the marks getting worse. But it all came to me that the marks happend to be on the side where he leans on the heater most of the time.

Is there a way to treat this? Im treating with melafix atm.

You might also turn down the heater, or find something to shield him from it. They make some decent heaters nowdays with an outer layer that prevents fish burn. Check you LFS

my 'guess' is that there are not sufficient caves/hiding spots for this fish and so it chooses the place behind the heater as a last resort? if that's not the reason he's hanging by the heater, then Malefic has a good idea ... a heater guard. in fact, consider getting one regardless.

melafix is as good as anything else to treat such 'wounds'.

you could put the heater in a sump. that is, if you have one.
