my butterfly fish died this morning idont know why....everything is fine in my tank...but i think it died of starvation....i was feeding it flakes but not once did i see it eat....went to my cousins house...and got some blood worms from him and when i came back the poor guy was already dead....

iam planning on getting another one....

any recommendations on what i should feed it????

How long had you had it? What size tank was it in? How old was the tank? Any tankmates?

As for what to feed it:

frozen baby krill (chopped into chunks)
live baby crickets - probably their favorite
flies
ants
moths
frozen bloodworms
flake food

My African Butterflyfish at first would only eat LIVE food. It loved mealworms in particular. After a while it began to take pellets that I was feeding others in his tank. He never touched flakes though.

If you get a new one, buy it some mealworms but also try to get it to take pellets. Easier in the long run, since you probably have pellets to feed other fish you may have.

They are top water feeders so if you have too much surface flow it may have been difficult for the poor little guy to eat. They are usually quite aggressive feeders as well. I even had one bite the tip of my finger when I dipped it in the tank as a kid. lol
