guys
My pantodon butterfly fish wont eat. He'll take shrimp bits but spits them back out, once theyre waterlgged, he wont touch them. Any ideas?
We suspect he took a Neon Tetra a couple of days ago, we're one short.

Thanks

does he appear bloated or constipated, perhaps from the Neon?

i had a betta that was VERY picky about food.... the only thing he would eat were freeze dried bloodworms. Try switching foods, maybe flake food or some blood worms or some veggies? Maybe your fish is picky too :)

I do not think a butterfly can eat a neon... mouth at wrong angle. Try some live food, mealworm, fruit fly, ect.

Got hold of a few blood worms, those it pollished in short order!

thanks

Butterfly's have a trapdoor mouth, that opens extremely wide. You'd be surprised how much they can fit in their mouth...

Fish in the top strata of the tank are doom if it gets peckish.

You could feed him live crickets. (Oscar's love 'em too.)

:iagree:

mine took minnows and tetras as food easily. its favorite was live crickets and waxworms. you need to give them live food they are very picky. also have floating plants up top for them so they feel comfortable. i used to put a waxworm on top of a piece of water sprite and it became his favorite spot.
