So i saw a few today at my local lfs, and i must admit. At first, i thought they were sting rays, lol. Anyways, i think they look really cool, however i have a few questions..........

1. How do the fair in a comminity tank, and do they get along with Gold nugget plecos?

2. What kind of diet do they need, and how big do they get? Also, how fast do they grow?

3. Will the harm plants?

4. Are they any good for eating algae? If so, what kind?

5. Are they shy like gold nuggets or active during the day?

As for my tank, its a heavily planted 72 gallon community tank.

Thanks guys!

Ok, so it seems im talking to my-self, but oh well. :p:

Anyways, iv found out these are actually loaches, as some links would suggest from this very sight. Now, they are reccomended to be kept in cool waters, and in pairs or more. Does anyone know how they would fo in a 78-80 degree tank?

Of all places, I saw those being sold at walmart under that same name "butterfly pleco"
You are right, they are not a pleco at all. Their real name is the Hillstream Loach or also called the Borneo Loach I believe.
Im not sure how they would do in a warmer tank setup, but I think as long as the tank is oxygenated very well and has some strong currents they should be okay. I would maybe try to keep the tank temp at about 76 F if you have tropicals you want to keep him with.

Their should be plenty of oxygen, as i have a heavily planted tank with plenty of plants and pressurized C02. That should create more then enough..

As for current, it's decent, as ive got a pump on one side, and the filter outtake on the other side.

Thanks Candy!

Any other opinions?
