I was wondering if anyone has purchased fish from thatfishplace.com? I never purchased fish online before and wanted to know if this was a good store.
I am assuming online vendors are not very repitable. I guess I will go searching for a good fish store in Denver although I have been to several and more are on the below average side. My Petsmart has striped raphael but I really want some spotted ones as well.
yeah, but beware of out-of-country sellers on Aquabid. This is not necessarily because "foreign" fish are bad. It's that Customs may seize, or at least delay, live shipments.
well no luck there I guess I will just wait till I come across some. I am going on vacation to Arizona and New Mexico next week maybe I will run across a good fish store there that will ship to Colorado. Thanks
If you find a store or two that you like, try talking with the owner and tell 'em what you want. It's probably on one of their lists, and they don't know that anybody is interested. Tell them "If you can get healthy spotted raphs for less than $x a piece, I'll buy 6 of them." Many stores will be more than happy to get you something special. This is less likely to happen with a chain store.
If you do convince them to get something, make sure you and your friends follow through and buy if they're healthy. Store owners don't like to get "stuck" with unsaleable fish.
With one of the stores around here, they got to the point where they'd give me a good discount if I bought all 8 or 12 of a species. A store can charge less for fish if they know they won't have to keep them forever. I would ask the owner, and was careful not to blurt the question out in front of other customers- who would wonder why they couldn't the same discount for buying 2 neons. The owner found out that there was a local demand for oddball cory and apisto species- other people had been looking for them as well, but nobody ever said anything.
