Alas, I had to get rid of Smaug, my 12"+ Snow King Pleco :( .
Him and Allanon (7"+ Oscar) have been having some major turf brawls :mad2 in our 75gal as of late and my wife said Smaug had to go.
I caught him and took a few pics, and whisked him off to my preferred LFS,
hopefully he'll find another home as good as ours was to him.
I just couldn't wait any longer, I've been planning a 125gal but its not in the immediate future and that sucks.
Also too bad is that they don't buy or give credit for homeless fishies, purely donation status only.

OH well, when I get my 125 gal I'll get a Jaguar Cat or some other bottom fish and see if Allanon will tolerate'em....
The little knothead is pretty aggressive for a Oscar, will just have to wait and see?

I had thought the spiny schmuck was atleast 14"+ but I measured him and he was just under 13", here's some good pics before bye-bye.

thats one nice looking cat. :bowing:

I have to agree with Mickael on this one. It's just sorta limp like the salmon in the fishmonger's store.

Btw, Hope you can get something that'll hold it's own against your Oscar. Smaug will find a good home at that size easily. =)

omg! he's beautiful! it's a shame you had to get rid of him
I didn't want to believe me!
And yes, thank you, he was absolutely gorgeous, well fed with lots of various veggies, often studded with carnivore sticks for extra protien, he was very healthy. I'd had him for awhile and was proud of him, but it was him or Allanon (Oscar) and my wife loves Allanon....
If Momma ain't happy ain't nobody happy

Definitely not dead, Mickeal! :soda:

Plecos are often photographed this way, once out of the water they calm down remarkably and when handled/shown this way tend to extend all their fins as defense measure, makes for good pics.

So true! I have seen this method used many times in TFH and AF magazines and you have a beautiful specimen (errr....HAD!) I do understand the whole "when Mama's happy, everyones happy" routine, though! God bless and hope things work out with your next aquarium.

That makes me sad... I had to remove both my plecos from my big tank and have not had time to get a 90g up and running so I think I will have to put them up for adoption too. I can't stand to see them each laying around in a 15 gallon anymore. :(
Opposite situation with the wife though, she loves the plecos and wants the discus to go away.

i guess my hubby will never have to go through something like this... i would make him buy another tank just for the culprit... in my case i think my hubby is the one who would try to get rid of the fish :(

btw, im sorry but i find oscars so much ugly...

anyways, for how long can you hold a pleco out of the water? (i've seen a lot of pictures like yours at the planetcafish catalog, so i know it's pretty common to do it)
