Coler it is funny that you should choose to make mention of winding something up.
Considering the angle of this whole affair being some boots that my mother bought me. Please allow me to show you one thing (that is very dear to me) that I wind up on a daily basis. It is something that I was to give to my mother the first week of april 98, except for one issue she died mar 30, 98.(and I was the one who had to check her body to ensure that cpr would not revive her)
So let me ask you Coler, you are a lawyer right?
Why would I post such things as I have on this thread knowing full well that it is indeed documentation that could be used against me in a court of law should I be found to creating mischief. I would think if you are a lawyer that you of all people would understand my motives for choosing a public forum as a way of creating a time stamped and dated record of matters. It will really simplify matters should it come to legal prosecution of the parties involved NO?
In terms of winding stuff up, the above music maker is the only thing I wind up almost daily. I wish I had given it to my mother the week prior to her death as that is when I bought it. Truly, she would have had the last week of her life to enjoy the small pleasure of the musical gift from her little big man(me).
one does not have to be guilty of mischief to create a story of astronomical proportions from bits and pieces of ordinary life with an odd coincidence thrown in there.....

Yeh it is a total ordinary part of life to have notes like this dropped in your mailbox. Yup totally ordinary. Yup totally ordinary for someone claiming to represent csis to drop a box on your front doorstep.
It is every day that you get things like this dropped in your mailbox. Think what you will, say what you will for that is your perogative.
The cold hard reality is that I could care less whether or not you believe what I am posting, for I am not posting it for your approval!!!!!!!!!
As for me I will do what is in the best interests of my family and myself as a cheap effective way of making sure that these things are not hidden. Making sure that precautionary measures are taken, and not all measures are revealed on a public forum friend. Some of the things I am doing involve some powerful people who can go to task on my behalf without having to go through the front desk as it were. For those kind of contacts I bypass the front desk and ask the higher up people that I know who have some pull to check some things out for me and I will not broadcast those things.
Now I could lay down the $4000.00+ dollars needed to install the kind of security set up I have in mind, yet, I have decided that such is not really needed right now.
I'm amazed this thread is still going, and I hope it would close soon. It never ceases to amaze me at the onset of paranoia. A lot of people freak out just because a government agency they never hear from sends them some mail.
Each post I've seen only feeds the paranoia. Brakes do fail quickly, some times police do come to peoples houses for reasons other than a box you got in the mail, and a note asking for your assistance.
I'll use myself as an example. Because of my career path, I have a very difficult time convincing people in MY OWN FAMILY that I am not some kind of government agent working for the CIA. I do get regular mail from government agencies that people never talk to, but doesn't change the fact that people perceive my job as something that it's not.
In this case, I think the original package stirred up paranoia for an issue that really isn't volatile at all. And, as for this being a correct measure to protect your family, I completely disagree.
If there really were a conspiracy against you, you would be better served to make this public in your own community where people would most likely miss you quickly if something were to happen, to include your local media outlets and local boards.
Posting on an international aquarium forum is not the best way to "protect your family". The biggest problem to posting here on this issue is most of us ARE NOT CITIZENS of Canada, so none of us would be of any use if you really were having a problem.
Based on all posts here, I can definitively say that 90% of this is in your head. Take a step back and look at it for what it is......

As for all the harsh statements.. I think with all the weird things that happened, it's understandable to be a little freaked, particularly when you have a family to worry about.
Just a note, I lived in Regina for most of my life. I also had a lot of pretty bizarre things happen to me there (like, my car was broken into 7 times in 1 year, once while parked at the security camera company I worked at.... and another time some jerks in broad daylight carved 'freak' into my arm with a broken bottle just for dressing weird).. That was just to name a few.. it's a bizarre world, you never know what could happen.
Anyways.. I just wanted to say I get the need to post something publicly for the date/time stamp, and AC is as good a place as any... after all, we post lots of random stuff. If people aren't interested, they really don't need to read..

Of a truth I would prefer I did not have these things just show up on my doorstep, but trust me I was told to make things public and make them public fast from a safety point of view regardless of the place just a public place and a internet fish forum was as good as any.

I am most surprised at the know it all attitude some of you have about what my private life here in regina is, when all you have is some of the details I have shared about my restaurant and my fish keeping as well as some of the plans for the fish business.
So try to place yourself in my shoes if something like this happened to you would you just sit idle by and do nothing or would you get active? You may choose different routes and so is well and good. I would not judge you with doubt if you provided the photo doc as I have on this thread. I would very much be looking at it as some of the people who have pm'd me do.
I find the judging of people that goes one based solely on a flawed view that everyone on the net is there for attention so commical. It is amazing to me to see the broad brush that people use in assumption that everyone who posts on the net is playing games. Yes my previous experience and relationship on ac for the past year or so of my being here shows that I am only a living in my basement looking for self importance by posting attention falsehoods type person.
Rather I would think the fact that I have only posted stuff that can very much be validated in truth and have for the most part been validated with pictures to be worth some value.
For example when I first came to ac and shared a bit of who and what I was in terms of a fish keeper people called me a bs artist. So I posted this thread as a way of providing people the pictures they so wished. I even had to go buy a digital camera to do it and learn how to use one.(take note to free up space on my photobucket acct I deleted many pictures as this thread had pretty much served it's course and I wanted to put new pictures on my photobucket so I cleaned up my acct to free space so most of the pics are gone.)

Even though the pics are mostly gone, still the fact remains that people wanted pictures to prove that I was not a game player. So I got a camera and took pictures.
As I have said whether or not you see the need to publicize in this way is inconsequential, the reality is that it was advised to me that I needed to so I did.

Do I buy this story? Not really. I admit parts are convincing and I don't think you are making all of this up. I do think you questioning the original package was the correct thing to do. However, I disagree with the later reactions. Your first post was a curiosity. I understand your desire to protect your family. However, chest beating and proclaiming over and over again that the military trained you isn't helping your case. You are making threats against your own government agency for a threat you are perceiving, and have no proof at all that you are in any real duress.
So you talked to your local police...... big deal, you are still perceiving a threat that you have no clue really exists. I work with intelligence personnel regularly, and if there is a real and confirmed threat then you make it very public to counter intelligence agencies from being able to act in a covert manner.
I find it amusing how quickly you are to dismiss someone's point of view, just because they don't jump right in to the cloak and dagger scenario you have running through your mind.
You have given nothing credible for anyone to believe you are in any danger, and if the police recommend you not do anything public, why have you not asked this thread be removed?

A. You received an odd package with some money in it, and you found some kind of anonymous scrawled note. Your brakes were unrelated. You have correctly reported what you are concerned about to the police. Presumably they will keep adequate time stamped and dated records.

A. No, it wouldn't really simplify things in a theoretical prosecution anyway (yes I am a lawyer and no I would not be attempting to introduce postings on a fish website into any case I wished the jury to treat seriously. If anything the postings here would be capable of damaging a prosecution in the event that the Defence became aware of them). That being said I can't see any evidence of an offence having been committed against you (that does take into account the anonymous note that seems to indicate someone called to your property).
