I have two sources of water at my house. The city water from my tap has the following readings;
PH - 8.2
amonia - 0
nitrite - 0
nitrate - 20-25

The water from my well has the following readings;
PH - 7.4
amonia - 0.50
nitrite - 0
nitrate - 0

Which would be the best to use in my tank? I thought I was going with my well until I saw my amonia level. Now I'm not to sure which would be better.

Thanks for the help.

don amazon fish like slightly acidic water??? you could jus buy drops that reduce the ph, i got a bottle of it

Do not use pH adjusters. They cause instability to your tank which is far more dangerous than a higher pH.

Personally, I'd stick with the tap water if you have been using it all along. WHat are the ammonia, nitrate, nitrate and pH values in your tank water right now?

Plants should take care of any nitrates, but we'd really need to know what the parameters in your tank are.

PH is 8.0
Amonnia is 0
nitrite is 0
nitrate is 20-25ish. Hard to tell for sure. The color was slightly darker than the 20, but not as dark as the 40.

I am concerned (and it's the reason I checked my source water) because I can't seem to add any fish to the tank now. They only make it about a week no matter how I acclimate them. The fish in the tank are great. :confused: Maybe the high nitrate is the issue???

40ppm really isn't that high. What kinds of fish are you trying to add? Amazon types?

You know, if it's really an issue, use the well water or mix them. Prime or Amquel+ in the water will take care of any ammonia that may cause a problem.
