Calling All Siamese Algae Eater Owners!

Nice job on all the research!
I tried 3 times to get the real thing at the LFS and gave up.
Now I can look again.

OMG!!!!! Everyone is asleep in my tanks. I'm going to be doing a lot of studying tomorrow and taking a lot of pics.

Thank you for sharing such great information!

I definitely have three Garra (originally purchased online labeled as true SAE) and think I have three C. langei due to the blotch and barbels. However, I have bba and hair algae and don't think they're eating any of it. Maybe they're just spoiled by the algae and shrimp pellets I put in there for my leopard frog plecos.

I originaly had a False Siamese Algea Eater but I returned it. Now my SAE is a true SAE and is quite peaceful, eats algea, and is not too active at all, preferring to sit around.

I am a little confused as I have two who definately have the "blotch" on the belly. I will try to find a pic that I know I have. All of mine have "barbels". Do the barbels differ? I might have missed something in the thread?

Sorry - wrong picture. I was trying to upload the pics of my SAE's
