i have a 5 inch convict in a 55 gallon tank with 2 equally large silver dollars and a tiger pleco. It seems as the convict has grown from a small baby to near adult size he has taken an interest in chasing the silver dollars.

i thought this was a possibility when I housed them together... however, there doesn't appear to be any damage to the silver dollars other then they are quite skiddish and seem to try and hide most of the time.

Any ideas on what could curb my convicts antics? Thanks.

55 Gallon:
1 Convict
2 Silver Dollars
1 Tiger Pleco

10 Gallon:
3 Dwarf Puffers

whenever i had a rebel convict, lol..i would add another of the same sex..same sex because a breeding pair would destroy any other fish

ANyone think some dither fish might help? danios, etc??

yea dithers alwasy are good with convicts just add some more silver dollars, about 3 more also silvers are schooling fish should alwasy be kept in groups

sd's will be pretty cramped in a 55gal

giant danios work

i dont want any more silver dollars... I've had these 2 SD's for over 5 years (kinda bored of them, but i do love them) so i don't want any more SD's. Plus my SD's are already almost 6 inches, my tank is way too small for any more.

I don't know too much about giant danios..hmmm

i'd say the best way to do it it get another convuct, this way they can chase eachother around, and not the other fish

im sorry but i dont recomend another convict yes they will chase each other but if you get a female and they end up breeding because convicts are one of easiest cichlids to breed there like rabbits lol they will get so territorial that they will kill the other fish that get even close to there frys
