Calvus Questions

I think I have decided on the lelupi a lot... which is perfect, me being a Steelers fan means I'll have a tank with black & gold fish! LOL...

thanks for the suggestions... I'll get to working on this setup, and even post pics when things come together. the hardest part will be trying to find the actual fish locally, if possible, so I do not have to pay for shipping... here's to hoping...
 
Have you checked out the CCA or ******************* forums? CCA meets monthly in Silver Spring, and I saw Daniel posting on the East Coast forum. He breeds a variety of Tang's, and had a number of juvie Calvus last year. Try posting in the marketplace folders on those forums if you can't find a local source.
 
Your LFS should be able to get Calvus shipped to them if their worth their salt and care about your business. Expect to pay for them though. The black strain goes for $30-40 around here at decent size. I think in your 55 you could get away with one more species if you chose. Julidichromis Transcriptus would make a good addition.
 
yeah... I will do the fish store if I must, but I prefer to by from folks that breed locally whenever I can (former and future discus owner... I guess some of the principles I use with those stick with me with other species... LOL)...

I got the first two I had at such a great price... I regret them dying when I moved. but things will work out much better this time around!
 
Yeah i will second that on what pappy said.. good job buddy def post some pict when finished my black calvus are doing great..
