Camera Battery Troubles

I'm trying to take some picutres of my tanks but my camera battery keeps dying. I have a kodak DX3900 camera with a rechargeable battery. I have kept the camera in the charger and waited for it to charge several times. The battery dies even before I can take a single pic.

The battery that I am using is a Kodak rechargeable Ni-MH 1600 mAh 1.2Vx2 KAA2HR battery.

The directions say to wait till the charger says the battery is charged then pull the battery out and wait 5 minutes. Then charge it again and repeat until it says its charged when you first put it in. Their explaination is that the battery charges to a higher voltage. I did notice that the battery is fairly warm after charging.

The problem is that I have been trying to charge this battery for two days :-( Does anyone have this camera also? If so, what battery life do you get and what battery do you use?

Is this a new camera/battery? If so I'd try exchanging it. If it's older, maybe the battery has reached the end of it's useful life. My Nikon has a lithium ion battery, I've never had that problem. Sorry, I can't help more, hope you get it working.

Rechargeable batteries are great when they work well, but maddening when they don't. If you don't seem to be getting enough of a charge and they're under warranty, don't screw around -- just get them replaced.

Batteries can be irreversibly damaged if dropped, so treat them carefully. Sometimes you can recondition a battery by discharging it completely, recharging, and then discharging again. Repeat 3 times. If that doesn't work, I'd suspect the battery is toast.

I have had this camera and battery for 3 years. I have just started using it again. It has been sitting around for a year or so and the batteries were dead when I tried to take a picutre. I was able to take 6 pictures in a row at once time (impressive) then it started going down hill. I might need a new battery I guess.

It's time to get a new one...

The most painful thing is that I barely used the old battery and its dead just because of old age. The package claims 1000 recharges, but I got less than 25.

Welcome to rechargeable batteries

I keep all the receipts for my rechargeble tool batteries and only buy them from Sears. They NEVER last as long as they are supposed to and I'm very easy on them. Camera and PDA batteries are the same way. The only batteries that work as specified are the high end ones my son and I use in our remote control cars. Then again, they also cost a small fortune and require expensive chargers.

GET A NEW ONE!! Sorry, but I have a Kodak and that started happening to me. They told me the battery should omly last a year.... Just get a new one and if the camera still won't work, then get the camera repaired....

My camera is totally bombed because this stupid chick dropped it. $600 down the swirly!
