Camera Lens Advice Needed

looks good to me

That price seems a little too cheap to me. I've read that if it seems too cheap, its probably not good quality. I have a Canon Powershot S5 IS and have been looking into macro lenses. The good ones usually run around $50 for my camera.

I've read alot on various photography forums to make sure I don't buy something that isn't good quality, so I'm just going by what I've read. A good one to check out is: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/index.php. Its specific to Canon users. I'd run that kit by them and see what kind of feedback you get. You could also find some recommendations on there as well, I'm sure.

And just know that while you'll get some good photos with a macro lens, it won't be like a d-SLR, which is what the person in that thread used to take their pics. Those photos are really sharp. :)

I was also thinking of getting started with macro photography when I started keeping fish again. I already have a DSLR (D70) but I'm nowhere near proficient with it so macro maybe a while away for me.

I've read that lenses like the one in the ebay auction are simply...well...magnifying glasses. They're simple and inexpensive but they can really be lacking in clarity (what we're after). But they might just do the job.

I thought this was a good read: http://photo.net/learn/macro/primer

I always thought those point-and-shoots had really good macro capabilities built-in.
