can 2 dwarf puffers go in a 6 gallon?

I believe that dwarves require 2-3 gallons per fish but I have heard they need no less than 5. Also, if they are cramped too tightly together they will become more aggressive.

I have done it with no real problems. It's really not advisabe however. They are messy fish and should have more space to explore. If you decide to do it, make sure it's heavily planted, and don't mix two males together.
I recommend getting a ten gallon and then you can have up to three dwarf puffers.

really? Mine aren't messy. Unless you mean when they only eat half of a snail and then the body rots in there.
My hubby had 2 dwarfs in a 5.5 gallon planted tank. This is what I've learned from the little guys. They can not be taken out of the water. So when they net them at the pet store, they can't take them out of the water. They'll need to put the cup in the water to get them out. A six gallon will be fine, make sure you get a male and female.
Yes, get one male and one female. I got two males, cause that's all they had, and put them in a 5.5 gallon tank. Within 3 days, the little "cutest" one lived up to his name... Killer! Now he lives alone, and will stay that way.

I love and keep a school of dwarf puff puppies in my 20g and they ar as happy as clams. The thing about netting puffers is kinda sorta true.
If the puffer is really scared you might get him to puff while netting him an if thats the case then yes thats bad. If they puff and get any air in their bellies then the only real chance they have to survive is to squeeze the air out yourself.
I have many times netted puffers from figure eights to red eyed, green spotted and dwarf puffers and not once did I ever have a problem with them. Be careful, move slow and they will be fine.
